Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-invasive and hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the neuro-musculoskeletal system – essentially the nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments and fascia that affect the way our brain and body function optimally.

Chiropractors are primary care practitioners, trained to develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment / management plan. They can recommend therapeutic exercises, use of other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling.

Chiropractors are one of only 5 classes of health care professionals in Ontario that are able to use the title Doctor, with its accompanying rights and obligations.
Your treatment may include soft-tissue therapy (i.e. ART – Active Release Technique), joint manipulation, Graston technique, cupping therapy, acupuncture, athletic taping and rehabilitation exercise.

After a through history and physical exam, various treatment options will be discussed with you.

Chiropractic care encompasses many tools in our “tool box” to help make you feel better.

This option is best when you want both chiropractic & acupuncture treatments, but billed under CHIROPRACTIC on the invoice.

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine originating in ancient China that treats patients using the insertion of very thin sterile needles into the skin at selected points of the body along energy pathways known as meridians. According to Traditional Chinese medicine, stimulating these points can correct imbalances in the flow of qi through the meridians. It is usually experienced as painless and extremely relaxing.

Acupuncture is considered a safe and effective therapy for a range of internal and external concerns, including stress, anxiety, insomnia, digestive, labour induction for pregnant women and musculoskeletal issues. It is used to encourage natural healing, improve mood and energy, reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body.

We use an evidence-based biomedical approach in acupuncture with a foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

An acupuncture treatment may include just the use of needles alone, dry needling techniques or electro-acupuncture. Services performed by an Acupuncture Provider may also include other TCM treatment modalities such as Cupping Therapy or the use of a Gua Sha.

Your session will be billed under your specific Acupuncture Coverage. Please check your own personal plan details to ensure you have the appropriate coverage.

NOTE: Dr. Lopes is a registered Chiropractor who practices acupuncture. She is licenced through the Acupuncture Council of Ontario (ACO). This option is best when you want both chiropractic & acupuncture treatments, but billed under ACUPUNCTURE on the invoice.

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) focuses on your fascia (the connective tissue that runs the length of your body and holds your muscles, bones and joints together). Instead of stretching isolated muscles, FST targets multiple lines of fascia at a time.

FST is a manual therapy that aims to improve flexibility, reduce pain, and increase range of motion by stretching and manipulating layers of connective tissue.
FST is table-based assisted stretching and targets the entire myofascial system rather than just isolated muscle groups. A FST Therapist holds and manipulates the client’s body into dynamic and passive stretches that cannot be achieved on their own. FST specifically targets and unwinds the different fascial nets that run through the body.

FST can be an effective treatment for a variety of conditions, including chronic pain, sports injuries, and postural concerns. It can also help to improve athletic performance by increasing joint mobility and reducing the risk of injury.

Whether you’re an athlete or looking for relaxation, FST can improve your range of motion and can be viewed as a stand-alone treatment to optimize your flexibility.

**NOTE: Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is provided by one of our registered massage therapists, Sean, and as such it may be covered under your extended health benefits package.
